In this undergraduate research project report, fundamental approach to Formula Student race car chassis design is discussed. The most convenient chassis types, materials and production methods are gathered from literature and represented. Formula Student is an educational engineering competition, where young engineering students design and manufacture a racecar based on certain rules and technology. The aim of the competition is to develop and innovate engineers, and to encourage more people into engineering. Each summer, hundreds of Formula Student teams compete against each other.
